“I was at Barnes Hospital for a couple of weeks before having my daughter, and they had craft Tuesdays. I remember thinking, ‘No, I don’t want to do it. This isn’t camp!’” Suzie Quinton, the owner of Quintons Crafthouse, shared, recalling a pivotal moment in her crafting journey.

This experience ignited her passion for crafting, leading her to explore various creative avenues, including making shirts, laser engraving, and more. Suzie started making NICU caps for premature babies. “I make NICU caps and I donate them to Children’s Hospitals,” Suzie states. The hospitals included Cardinal Glennon, Mercy, and a hospital in Kentucky. As of today, she has sent out well over 3000 NICU caps.

When asked why she opened Quintons Crafthouse, located at 126 W. Main Street in Collinsville, Suzie explains, “I outgrew my basement, between my inventory, my machines, and my orders. I was at a store in Maryville and loved it. When that store closed, I needed a place for me and all the vendors who were there.”

A Collinsville Gift Shop with Art Classes & Fun Events for Everyone

One of the standout features of Quintons Crafthouse is the variety of classes and events it offers. A particular favorite is the Bob Ross painting classes, which attract people of all ages, including young children and art enthusiasts from out of town. These classes are a testament to the community’s growing love for hands-on, creative experiences.

In addition to painting classes, the market hosts a range of other craft classes. Quintons Crafthouse Creative Studio Supports Local Artists, Artisans and Families

Suzie takes great pride in the fact that the market supports local artisans, many of whom are moms working from home or individuals with full-time jobs looking to turn their hobbies into a source of income. By offering a space to sell their handmade goods and teach classes, Quintons Crafthouse helps these small vendors reach a wider audience and earn extra income.

One of Suzie’s favorite aspects of running the market is writing checks to the vendors, knowing that the money is going directly to support local families. This sense of community and support is what makes Quintons more than just a market; it’s a family.

Unique Gifts from Local Crafters & Artists in Collinsville, Maryville, Troy

From hand-painted signs and custom clothing to quirky gifts like dinosaur-themed baby outfits and clay creations, Quintons Crafthouse is a treasure trove of unique finds. The market also features community projects, like a collective art piece where visitors can place stickers, contributing to a larger artwork that represents the community’s spirit and collaboration.

Giving Back to the Collinsville Community

Quinton’s Crafthouse is not just about creating and selling crafts; it’s also about giving back to the community. One of the ways Suzie and her team support local causes is through the Kahoks Strong initiative.

“Kahoks Strong, let’s talk about that,” Suzie says with a proud smile. “Anything in the store that is Kahoks related, or if a vendor has tagged it in the system as Kahoks, we take 10% of the sale and give it to Kahoks Strong. So I’m hoping to give them a nice check every quarter.”

This initiative is close to Suzie’s heart and is something she has been passionate about even before opening Quintons Crafthouse. “I did this with my home business,” Suzie shares. “People were like, ‘Oh, I really want a Kahoks Tumbler.’ And I thought, okay, but I didn’t feel right selling something from Collinsville High School without giving back. So, I just did that on my own. Now, I can do it on a much bigger scale.”

Kahoks Strong is a testament to the store’s commitment to supporting Collinsville High School and its students. By purchasing Kahoks-related items at Quintons Crafthouse, customers are directly contributing to this cause, helping to support local education and community initiatives.
