Mike and Sarah’s Produce located 116 N Bluff Rd in Collinsville, IL, is more than just a business—it’s the continuation of a rich family legacy and a deep commitment to community. Mike’s family has been in the produce business for generations, starting with his great-grandfather, who sold produce door-to-door in St. Louis. Local Produce Stand in Collinsville
After meeting Sarah, a student at Truman State University, the couple decided to launch their own stand in Collinsville. At just 22 years old, Mike and Sarah, who will be turning 20 next month, are building something special in the heart of the town. Opening their produce stand this past April, the decision to set up shop was inspired by the overwhelming support from the local community, where many of their customers reside. Since moving to their new location a month ago, they’ve been thrilled by the warm welcome they’ve received. “Collinsville has been awesome to us,” Sarah shared.
Mike and Sarah’s Produce offers fresh, local produce, but their commitment to giving back is what truly sets them apart. Each week, they host a giveaway, offering $30 worth of produce to a lucky customer. They’ve also donated pumpkins to local schools and churches, including Maryville Elementary. “It’s been a nice opportunity for us to give back a little bit,” Sarah said.

As the fall season brings more customers, the stand is bustling with activity. “It’s starting to be the busier time of year with pumpkins, because usually people wait until the last week or two,” Mike explained. They’ve been running deals on pumpkins and have added corn stalks to their offerings this year. Next year, they plan to expand even further, adding straw bales for fall decor.
Farmer’s Market, Quality Goods, Plans for Expansion
Looking ahead, Mike and Sarah have big plans for their growing business. In April, they’ll begin selling flowers from April through Mother’s Day, including hanging baskets and bedding plants. They’re also excited to start offering frozen seafood, like shrimp and crab legs. Inside the building, renovations will be underway shortly, and they hope to be fully operational by Valentine’s Day, when they plan to offer roses and chocolate-covered strawberries.
With their down-to-earth attitude, strong work ethic, and dedication to quality, Mike and Sarah’s Produce is quickly becoming a beloved spot in Collinsville. Whether you’re looking for fresh produce or want to support a family-run business, be sure to stop by. You’ll not only leave with fresh fruits and vegetables but also with a smile, knowing you’re supporting a business committed to giving back. Keep an eye out for their exciting plans for next year.
A Family Business Built on a Tradition of Service
Mike and Sarah’s Produce is more than a business—it’s a heartwarming story of family, tradition, and a passion for providing wholesome produce and more to the people of Collinsville. We really enjoyed reading this post from Mike detailing his family’s history in the local produce business in our region:
According to Mike, the produce stand in Collinsville is the 17th one his family has opened beginning with his great grandfather. A lot of people don’t know, but the vast majority of businesses fail over time. To have a legacy of many successful businesses means that an owner is doing something right, and when it comes to the produce business that means delivering the best quality goods at reasonable prices that keep customers coming back.
I believe that’s what we can expect with this new produce stand. We at WhirLocal Collinsville-Triad look forward to being customers!
