Arkansas State University Beebe (ASU Beebe) recently celebrated the launch of the Toyota Lexus TECS Elite Training Program at their Searcy campus. This innovative partnership marks a significant milestone for both the university and the local community, offering students hands-on training in automotive technology. The program aims to equip future technicians with the skills needed to work on advanced Toyota and Lexus vehicles, directly addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the automotive industry.

ASU Beebe’s Chancellor proudly announced, “Today we celebrate a wonderful corporate and local industry partnership which brings new opportunities for economic mobility to our students and further enhances and modernizes one of our programs.” This partnership highlights ASU Beebe’s ongoing commitment to providing students with modern, relevant training that aligns with industry needs.

The TECS Elite Training Program is designed to prepare students for careers as Toyota and Lexus technicians. In partnership with Parker Lexus of Little Rock and Toyota, the program gives students access to the latest in automotive technology, including tools, vehicles, and proprietary industry knowledge. As Dr. Jason Goodner, Vice Chancellor for Academics, explained, “Through the TECS Elite program, we have access to Toyota and Lexus proprietary information, scan tools, and brand-new vehicles for students to work on.”

This program not only benefits students by offering real-world, hands-on experience but also supports Toyota and Lexus dealerships across the state. “We were recently delivered a brand new Tacoma and a new 4Runner,” Dr. Goodner shared, emphasizing the practical learning opportunities available to students.

One of the key benefits of the TECS Elite Training Program is its focus on certifications and employment readiness. Upon completion, students will leave the program with certifications recognized by Toyota and Lexus, positioning them for success in a competitive job market. Katie Davidson, Service Manager at Parker Lexus, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “The demand for skilled technicians is rapidly growing… the U.S. needs over 100,000 technicians to join the workforce each year through 2026.”

The collaboration between ASU Beebe, Parker Lexus, and Toyota has made it possible for students to gain valuable skills and certifications, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers in automotive technology. “This program is one of only about 24 nationwide, and we’re incredibly proud to have it in this community and state,” Davidson noted.
