The City of Searcy, in partnership with White County, is gearing up for its Keep White County Beautiful event, a fall county-wide clean-up initiative aimed at maintaining the cleanliness of neighborhoods across the area. Set to take place from October 17 to October 19 at the White County Fairgrounds on Davis Drive, this event provides a centralized opportunity for residents to properly dispose of various types of waste.

Jessica, who works at the Searcy Sanitation Department, emphasized the importance of the event, explaining, “This event gives everyone in White County the chance to bring their unwanted items to a central location instead of leaving them on the curb. It helps keep our neighborhoods and streets looking nice and clean.” She noted that the event is open to all residents in the county, including those living outside the city limits of Searcy.

Items that will be accepted include regular-sized tires (up to 10), white goods like appliances, scrap metal, furniture, bagged trash, and dry paints. However, certain materials, such as concrete, chemicals, batteries, electronics, and tractor tires, will not be accepted. “It’s an opportunity for residents who may not have access to regular curbside pickup, especially those in more rural parts of the county,” Jessica added.

The clean-up event is a semi-annual effort designed to reduce litter and improve the overall aesthetics of White County. “We want to make it easy for people to get rid of what they don’t need so that their homes and streets can look good,” said Jessica.

For more information, residents can contact the Searcy Sanitation Department at (501) 279-1000 or the County Judge’s office at (501) 279-6200. Proof of White County residency will be required to participate.
