Beth Tropical Sno Caseyville Staff

When you think of summer, chances are the bright colors and cool treats of snow cones come to mind. Let your first visit be to Tropical Sno Shaved Ice, located directly across the street from Collinsville High School. But behind the fluffy, flavor-packed shaved ice creation is an even sweeter story. Meet Beth Schwartz, the heart and soul of Tropical Sno Shaved Ice in Caseyville, and discover how her vibrant little stand has become a family-friendly hotspot and a hub of community joy.

From Pandemic to Premium Shaved Ice in Caseyville: A Family-Powered Start

Like many small businesses that emerged during the uncertain days of COVID-19, Tropical Sno began with a leap of faith and a desire to create something meaningful (and practical). Beth and her family brainstormed ways to keep their older kids engaged and earn money for college at a time when few places were hiring.

The opportunity came when a neighboring business didn’t need its drive-thru. Beth saw the potential to turn that unused space into something special. With a lot of heart, a little ice, and some delicious syrups, Tropical Sno Shaved Ice was born.

What Makes Tropical Sno Shaved Ice So… Cool?

Tropical Sno Shaved Ice isn’t your average shaved ice stand. The magic is in the texture—Beth describes it as “premium snow” that melts in your mouth like real winter snow. This isn’t the crunchy ice you’re used to; it’s silky, soft, and layered with bold, high-quality flavors. Beth and her team even make many of their syrups in-house, ensuring every cone bursts with rich, consistent taste.

Her personal favorites? “Pink Flamingo” (pink lemonade, strawberry, and vanilla) and “Midnight City” (blackberry, blueberry, raspberry). Customer favorites include Instagram-worthy creations like Rainbow, Shark Attack (topped with gummy sharks!), and the ultra-popular Unicorn—a cotton candy explosion complete with sprinkles, whipped cream, and a twisty sucker horn. Yep, it’s that fabulous.

A Destination, Not Just a Drive-Thru

Beth envisions Tropical Sno Shaved Ice as more than just a place to grab a sweet treat—she’s building a family-friendly destination. With sidewalk chalk, hook-and-ring games, and a welcoming green space, it’s the perfect spot for kids to play and parents to relax.

Beth has even bigger dreams: Tropical Sno Shaved Ice will also begin serving iced coffee and plans to gradually expand. The future goal is to open earlier to offer both iced and hot coffee options. she hopes to host theater performances, live music, and pet adoption events in the future. Don’t be surprised if you see the Tropical Sno Shaved Ice crew at your next birthday party, baby shower, or school fundraiser. They bring the party to you!

Tropical Sno Shaved Ice is already making waves in Collinsville and the surrounding areas—especially through its fundraiser partnerships. A special shout-out to the Collinsville High School Class of 2025: On May 17th, Tropical Sno Shaved Ice will open early and offer half-off shaved ice to high school graduates with a student ID. (Make sure to tell them you heard it from WhirLocal Collinsville-Triad!)
