Are You Suffering from ISD or SPS? (I Totally Made These Up… Kind Of)
This morning at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Greeters, I blurted out something that felt almost impossible to say:
“I’m one of the leading voices for AI and automation for local businesses and nonprofits here in the Willamette Valley.”
It was hard to say. But it’s true.
And if I don’t believe it, why would anyone else?
Lately, I’ve been calling this feeling Imposter Syndrome Disease (ISD) and Self-Promotion Sickness (SPS). Not official diagnoses… but they sure feel real.
If you’ve been holding back from owning your experience, here are 3 things I’m learning to do anyway:
✅ Say it before you’re ready.
✅ Document, don’t brag.
✅ Keep the receipts. (Yes, even the DMs.)
⚠️ Possible side effects may include:
- Confidence while ordering coffee
- LinkedIn bio updates
- Feeling kinda proud of yourself
Still working through it. You too?
What’s something you’ve been afraid to say out loud?
Say it on here on WhirLocal or on one of your social channels, and see what happens.
