I couldn’t be happier with Grassroots Landscape. They were great to work with from start to finish. Phillip and his crew got the job done on time and under budget. Phillip listened and knew exactly what I wanted and they delivered. They had great ideas and I’m so pleased with the results.
Upon a recommendation, I engaged GrassRoots nearly two years ago to reconstruct a 70-foot fence, including a 16-foot sliding gate, wiped out by a stolen truck. I worked out a detailed contract with one of the owners, Garrett Vollstedt, which specified high-quality materials, specifics of the installation process, and a relevant timeline toward completion.
The fence we chose included non-twisting solid 8-foot cedar posts (c.f. twisting pressure-treated posts) with solid 2 by 12's across the bottom of the fence. GrassRoots used a process whereby the posts were not merely buried in cement, only to rot off in the future, but the posts were secured in metal braces which in turn were buried into the cement. In addition, care was taken that no wood would touch the ground across the entire bottom of the fence, a circumstance which otherwise commonly leads all of the boards of the entire fence to rot at ground level. Nary a shortcut was taken in building the complicated sliding gate, including forcing the steel fabricator to entirely re-do portions which were not up to the standards of GrassRoots. Again, the GrassRoots installers, with the close supervision of Garrett, showed their skill in putting the thing together. This fence will last, and after almost two years, absolutely no issues have become apparent.
The entire undertaking proceeded smoothly throughout, culminating with the homeowners' offering to extend the completion date so the skilled installation crew, who had essentially become friends, could have time off over the holidays. During construction, Garrett made daily appearances to check the progress and to confer with and assist the able and pleasant installers, Tim and Austin, before carrying out a final inspection precedent to the final payment. The crew members were not only perfectionists and enjoyable to work with, but they went above and beyond the call to put in place a temporary fence along the alley each night for security purposes.
