As we embark on a new series centered on the transformative journey of Ian Brandewie (Navy_SEAL_Poet), we turn our focus to a deeply personal aspect of his evolution: his poetry. From the rigorous discipline of Navy SEAL Team 8 to the reflective and boundless domain of artistic expression, Ian’s path has been anything but ordinary. Through his poetry, we are offered a window into the soul of a man who has navigated the extremes of human experience, from the front lines of global conflict to the intimate battles waged within the human heart.
Ian’s foray into poetry emerged as a beacon during a time of profound transition. Straddling the worlds of military precision and creative freedom, his verse embodies the essence of his journey—a relentless quest for identity, understanding, and healing in the aftermath of his service. His poems are not merely collections of words but are the vessels of his lived experiences, each line a testament to the trials, tribulations, and triumphs that have shaped him.
As we prepare to unveil the first poem in this series, it is essential to approach Ian’s work with an appreciation for the backdrop against which it was created. His poetry transcends the mere act of writing, serving as a bridge between the warrior he once was and the artist he has become. It is a reflection of a life marked by extraordinary challenges and the unyielding pursuit of personal growth and expression.
The poem we are about to share offers an intimate glimpse into Ian’s world, inviting us to traverse the landscapes of his memory, emotion, and aspiration. Through his words, we embark on a journey that is both uniquely his and universally resonant, challenging us to confront our own perceptions of strength, vulnerability, and redemption.

Let his poetry serve as a guide through the complexities of his experiences, inviting us to reflect, empathize, and, ultimately, be inspired by the power of words to heal, reveal, and transform.
Nostalgia – Navy_SEAL_Poet
All those mornings
They stacked in
a row they all felt
The same then but
Now they mean so much
Stained with Nostalgia
I wish to pull them back
digging for just one more
Conversation just one
More smile one more
Talk it ended well though
I’m thankful for that
