Annual Meeting of the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes new president, Board members and Annual Award recipients
The Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors called the Annual Meeting of the Membership this morning at Country Meadows Village. This yearly tradition is their opportunity to recognize individuals and businesses who have contributed to the Chamber and our area.
Outgoing Board President Steve Kufeldt called the meeting to order, and with the help of incoming Board President Jen Cantu and Executive Director John Zobrist, recognized three outgoing Board members who have each served six years. Joe Egli of Brown Insurance, Stephanie Wells of Living Local NW and Jenne Marquez of Woodburn School District were each honored for their contributions to the organization and have the distinction of serving as Board President during their terms. He also recognized our three new Board Members Rachel Danskey, Juan Bravo and Alejandro Vazquez.
Next up was the recognition of Janice Webb from Webb Chiropractic who received the honor of Ambassador of the year for her commitment and dedication as a volunteer.
Member of the Year was presented to John Massaia for his attendance and contributions to Chamber events. John rarely if ever missed an event and is always ready to assist as needed.
President Steve Kufeldt had the honor of choosing the “President’s Choice” recipient and gladly named Long Bro’s Building Supply as his choice. Kelly Long was present to receive the award and we are so grateful for her commitment to community which makes it an easy choice for this honor.
This year marked a new award which is in remembrance of the input and great influence of Harry Lee Kwai and his years of dedication and service to the Woodburn Area Chamber and our Community. Harry was an integral member and was the mastermind behind the beginning of our Greeters events as well as serving as executive director.. The Harry Lee Kwai Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Renee Willer who recently retired from DataVision Communications and was a great supporter of the Chamber and our area communities during her time with them.
The awards were capped off with the Business of the Year Award being presented to Alfonso Hererra of Mid Valley Autobody and Service Center. He and his team are a shining example of great customer service and dedication going above and beyond. Alfonso is dedicated to taking care of people and their reputation for quality and service is exemplary.
Steve Kufeldt then passed the ceremonial Gavel on to Jen Cantu who will be the Board President for 2024. The two of them shared a few minutes to talk about the goals work our Chamber is doing to help both our members and the community as a whole..
City Administrator Scott Derickson took a few moments to give some background on the Chamber and the great relationship we share and the team effort which continues to provide positive benefits to our community. Mayor Frank Lonergan announced their continued support of the work and an ongoing commitment which will increase the organizations ability to help with Economic development, tourism and community projects.
