5 Star Review By Joseph Paparella
We stopped into Eden Abbey Brewing on a Sunday evening after the Mount Dora Craft Show. We sat inside the taproom, but there’s also a beautiful outdoor area that’s perfect for relaxing with a pint. I sampled a few beers, and my favorite was Das Brot, German-style Dunkle brown lager with a toasty, malty flavor that finishes clean, dry, and crisp. We ordered the kettle chips to start, which came out piping hot, perfectly crunchy, and sprinkled with a flavorful proprietary seasoning blend. They paired perfectly with the beer. For dinner, we split a Hog Heaven Burger with tater tots and a Fiery Clucka sandwich. The tater tots were some of the best we’ve ever had: crisp, golden, and not greasy. The Hog Heaven was huge: juicy beef topped with a mound of kalua-style pulled pork, bacon, cheese, and sweet smoky BBQ sauce, all balanced with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The Fiery Clucka was another winner, tender buttermilk fried chicken layered with crispy bacon, chipotle beer cheese, and firebreather aioli on a toasted brioche bun. Not overly spicy, just packed with flavor. As the evening went on, Kristin Tucker & The Abbey Band started playing. The music was great with strong vocals and a good vibe. The Christian song choices weren’t quite our thing, but the performance overall was solid and the crowd was clearly enjoying it. We eventually left when we had enough of it, to each his own I guess. Between the excellent beer, delicious food, and live entertainment, this place checks all the boxes. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend.
